Postcard from Lakeside Park

Kirkwood was a popular summer resort from about 1880 until about 1960. In addition to the hotel, there were numerous bungalows located on both sides of the lake. As a child I can remember walking down a street with 10 or 15 abandoned cottages and a log cabin, which had been known as "Lakeside Manor," on the Lindenwold side of the lake. My great aunt and uncle, Doll and John Nicholas rented bungalows to vacationers until about 1962.
