The White Horse Tavern

From Chas. Boyer, Early Inns and Taverns
This building which stood almost next to the Quaker
Store on the White Horse Pike dates back at least to 1751. It
was an important stage stop for travelers from Philadelphia to
Egg Harbor and the site of the dedication of the White Horse Pike
in 1807. It operated as a tavern until 1959. In 1965 a group from
Lindenwold tried to save it from demolition. It was dismantled
and stored at another location in Lindenwold, but was never reconstructed.
I had dinner in it once as a child.
